The Journal

I've spent my life paying attention to people. I didn't set out to become a therapist specifically. I got interested in people first. The career came after.

I won’t bore you with the “I’m passionate about people” spiel. People can suck. But what they don't say is usually more captivating than what they do and I’m lucky enough to often meet the person behind the mask.

I didn't have a blueprint. Nobody was coming to save me, which, in hindsight, was probably the best thing that ever happened to me, even though it didn't feel that way at the time. I figured most of it out by doing it wrong first. I built it as I went, usually a step behind where I wanted to be, saying yes before I had the how figured out. That's sort of been the whole approach. Big fan of yes's. Not a big fan of no's. No is a door. Yes, is a hallway. I like hallways.
