JOSEY TYNES

WHO IS/ JOSEPHINE

I've been called a lot of things; therapist, professor, founder, mom, shopaholic, bitch.

I've always known I belonged in mental health. In elementary school rooms where kids dreamed of being a firefighter or dancer, I wanted to sit across from someone and ask about their problems. When I was 10, my childhood caregiver,  a beautiful, colorful, spiritual woman, imparted a vision into my life, declaring, in a much longer-winded cadence than told here, that I was destined to serve others. I've always been driven not just by service, but by the human in the person — the soul, the spirit.

After earning my Master’s in Healthcare Leadership from Brown University in 2019, I founded Parallels in 2021 and have since curated a team of mental health professionals I’m endlessly proud to represent. Even more notably, 2021 was also the year I gave birth to my first and only son, Ford. He’s the one behind that toy car underfoot most mornings. My shining gold star, my reason.

I'm a therapist, a mom, and a summation of my own experiences and adversities. And although some pleasurable and non, I’m an extension of everyone I've connected with over my career,  a living representation of cumulative growth, change, and triumph. One piece of the puzzle. All of this to be said, behind every title, every accreditation, comes back to someone who realized the only way out was through. It’s better that I show you how to do that, rather than tell you. Let’s start the work.

Josephine, but you can call me Josey.
